One of the many purposes of Valley Garden Club, is to award a beautification grant on a yearly basis to applicants that submit their proposals (during our open application process) on how they will improve and beautify their property for the general public to see and enjoy. This is open to applicants in the Mat-Su Valley. Grants up to $1000 for one or more winners. Download application below.

2017 Beautification Grants Awarded to:
Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska providing resources for people diagnosed with dementia related issues. The creation of a “Fairy Garden” will give them purpose and a pleasant presentation at the Mat-Su Adult Day Services. The clients will have an opportunity include their work in helping others as well.
Big Lake Library Advocates to continued development of Jordan Lake Park near the Big Lake Library. This has turned a once unsafe place into a family friend peaceful location for children and adults to enjoy.
My House – Mat-Su Youth Housing for the development of a “Lost But Not Forgotten” project to honor youth who have lost their lives. This will be a rose garden with a seating area to memorialize lost youth and give those left behind a place to contemplate.
Trinity Lutheran Church ELCA, Palmer will continue expanding their garden to teach good stewardship of our land, build community spirit, and teach gardening skills. The food produced in the garden is given to food pantries.
Heart Reach Center to create an inviting prayer/mediation garden for clients and the public. This will be part of the landscape development for the new building that is very visible on the Seward Meridian Highway.
